Inspired Connections

Kevin Spire is a genealogist with an Inspired passion to create Connections with the lives and stories of our ancestors.  As a native of the Midwest, Kevin has an abiding link with the people and area.  His lived experiences in rural and urban settings provide valuable insight to what first brought – and still brings – families to the Midwest to establish their deep roots and legacies.

Kevin started his own genealogy quest in the early 1990’s.  Since then, he has served on the executive board of the Iowa Genealogical Society, as well as serving on many of its committees.  He continues to teach beginning and intermediate classes such as: Genealogy Basics, US Immigration, Internet Use for Successful Research and Cemetery Symbols.  He has completed a PLCGS certification with the National Institute of Genealogical Studies with certifications in German Records and DNA research.

Kevin’s primary focus is the 19th – 20th century time periods of England, Germany and the US Midwest, though his curiosity and passion to learn more can pull him into earlier time periods and other areas of the globe.  Kevin is available for private client research, class presentations, translations, transcriptions and record retrieval from area archives.
